On June 15, 1980 Calvary Baptist held its first service at East Side Elementary. There were 29 in attendance that day with Pastor and Church Planter Steve Melvin at the ready. It took only 3 short years (May 22, 1983) before the ‘ground breaking’ service for the first portion of the church building would happen. On October 2, 1983 Calvary Baptist held their first official service in that building.
One year later, the church would become an integral part of helping to fulfill the Great Commission by assisting in the start of a mission congregation in Sunburg, MN. Over the next 10 years, Calvary Baptist continued to spread the Gospel and further their outreach by helping start Redwood Falls Chapel (Redwood Falls, MN), assisting in the start of the Western Baptist Association and helping to start Kandi Baptist Fellowship in Willmar, MN.
By 1996, the rate of growth for Calvary Baptist exceeded current building limits and the church took on the task of building an addition. On May 18, 1997 the new portion of the building was dedicated.
Fast forward to 2010. Under the Pastoral leadership of John Groeneweg Calvary Baptist became known as Radiant Life Church. Though the landscape of Marshall, MN has changed since the church’s founding in 1980, Radiant Life remains a constant source of sound Biblical preaching, community outreach and a home church for families in the area committed to helping fulfill the Great Commission.
